The Lyman family was one of the first set of missionaries to land in Hilo and this museum is a testament to their influence on the island. There is an excellent collection of art and artifacts showcasing the history of Hawaii and its people as well as rotating exhibits and special events. Located at 276 Haili Street the Lyman Museum also has a Mission House, a wooden structure built in the 1800s and one of the last surviving structures of its kind in the State of Hawaii. Docent tours regularly feature a walk back in time through the house. For more info call (808) 935-5021 or visit www.lymanmuseum.org
