Drive the scenic route of the old Mamalahoa Highway north of Hilo to step back into old Hawai‘i. Off Hwy. 19 at Onomea. This is a part of the Hilo-Hamakua Heritage Coast, extending from Hilo to Honoka‘a through the lushly scenic windward side of the island of Hawai‘i.
