What Makes Hilo Special – Photo Contest

CALLING ALL PHOTOGRAPHERS… well really anyone who can help us define “What makes Hilo so special?” through imagery is welcomed to submit photos. See information below for all details. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS is August 31, 2015. 1st Place: Ride along on a Paradise Helicopter lava photo safari with videographer Mick Kalber and photographer Bruce Omori
2nd Place: Really Right Stuff BH-40 ballhead
3rd Place: Half day photo workshop with Extreme Exposure photographers Tom Kualii and Bruce Omori
Honorable mention: Cool Canon swag!

To Enter: Email high resolution JPEGs to info@downtownhilo.com. Maximum 5 photos per person. Because we’re looking for imagery for DIA’s new website, photos in landscape (horizontal) orientation will be given preference over portrait (vertical) orientation. Photos can be square, rectangular, or panorama, as long as the horizontal resolution is 1500 pixels or more.
Include: Photographer’s name, phone number, and email address. If photographer is under 18 years of age, also include age and parent’s/guardian’s name and contact info.
Deadline: Email must be received by August 31, 2015.
Judging: Sept 4th, 2015, 6-8pm at the Extreme Exposure Fine Art Gallery in downtown Hilo. It’s First Friday and businesses are open late, so come enjoy the fun!

Photographer’s name will be revealed to judges after winner is selected. By submitting photos to this contest, photographers grant Hilo DIA a non-exclusive perpetual license for non-commercial use. Photographers retain full ownership of images. Full recognition will be given to the winning photographers. All entries may be used by Hilo Downtown Improvement Association on website, in newsletters, or in Hilo brochures, with byline credit. Note: photographs of individuals require a model release from the subject. We can’t consider submissions containing images of recognizable individuals without written consent.
